Adventure Mind was born from a passion for helping people heal, connect, and grow through meaningful experiences. Long before Adventure Mind was established, Araceli Marquez was integrating outdoor, experiential approaches into her clinical work and discovering the powerful impact of combining therapeutic interventions with hands-on, relationship-centered activities. As a therapist certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Araceli pioneered TF-CBT experiential groups at the Children’s Advocacy Center in San Antonio, blending evidence-based trauma treatment with team-building and experiential learning techniques. Through this work, she witnessed firsthand how experiential activities can foster resilience, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities for lasting growth and healing.
Driven by a desire to continue innovating and expanding the ways people experience personal growth, Araceli partnered with a trusted colleague to create Adventure Mind. Together, they envisioned a program that would combine trauma-informed principles, experiential learning, and adventure-based interventions to support individuals, families, teams, and groups of all sizes.
Today, Adventure Mind continues to build on that vision—creating engaging experiences that help people connect more deeply with themselves and others, develop new skills, overcome challenges, and discover their capacity for growth. Our mission remains rooted in fostering resilience, encouraging meaningful connection, and empowering people to learn, heal, and thrive.

Araceli is a proud Texas veteran and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a dedicated professional with specialized training in trauma-informed care, adventure-based therapy, and experiential interventions. With extensive experience working with individuals, families, teams, and both small and large groups, she is committed to fostering resilience, strengthening relationships, and promoting healing through engaging, evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Over the last seven years, Araceli has been accepted to present both at local and out of state conferences. Because of her experiences, Araceli has found a passion in sharing the skills she learned by educating others in similar practices.

Araceli is also certified as a Reality Orientated Physical Experience Facilitator (ROPEs). What does this mean?--As a ROPEs facilitator, she has the ability to take families, teams, and groups into the outdoors and onto a challenge course to address and focus on the needs for specific groups.

Native to El Paso, Texas, my love for the outdoors began at a very early age, traveling to national parks to a neighboring New Mexico. Since leaving my hometown over 10 years ago, I now have a family of my own and enjoy going on our own little adventures. And because family adventures take a lot of energy, I know how important it is to take time completely for myself. Many times, nature plays a huge part on my own self-care. My appreciation for nature continues to develop throughout my adulthood, taking on greater challenges like summiting 14ers in Colorado!
